Media Release: CUPE Local 500/City of Winnipeg Reach Tentative Agreement

WINNIPEG – Friday, March 3, 2006. Today, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 500 announced they have reached a tentative collective agreement with the City of Winnipeg.

“We are pleased that this tentative agreement was reached in a timely manner and I commend our negotiating team for their hard work during this round of bargaining,” said Local 500 President Gary Swanson.

Details of the agreement will be withheld until the ratification vote on March 16, 2006.

The agreement, which covers about 5,000 City of Winnipeg workers, expired December 30, 2005.
