Bargaining Update #4 - CUPE Local 500/City of Winnipeg
April 26, 2021 at 9:22 AM
On April 20 and 21, 2021 negotiations continued between CUPE 500 and the City of Winnipeg. During these sessions, both parties spent time reviewing and responding to counter proposals. These proposals are considered non-monetary but are important to addressing and resolving workplace issues. At this time, we have not engaged in any discussions on monetary items. The next bargaining dates are scheduled for May 5 and 6.
Your bargaining committee also met on April 22 to prepare for our next session with the employer. We are committed to securing a fair collective agreement for the membership and your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
This round of negotiations has been much different from any previous round. To bargain as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, bargaining is taking place through virtual meetings. We are also working on plans to hold virtual membership information meetings and voting. Stay tuned for more details as more information becomes available.
