City of Winnipeg 2018 Capital and Operating Budgets to be released on November 22

November 22, 2017 at 3:00 PM

On November 22, the City of Winnipeg will be unveiling its capital and operating budgets for 2018.

The operating budget is responsible for many of the programs and public services that Local 500 members provide to the citizens of Winnipeg.

Over the next couple of days, the Local will be studying the budget more closely to identify any and all service reductions and will be raising these at the upcoming standing committee meetings and with City Council.  As always, we will speak out against any attempts to contract out our work, reduce staffing levels and oppose cuts to programs and services.

Local 500 is airing a radio ad over the next couple of weeks that calls on the city to adopt a budget that invests in strong public services.   You can listen to ad here.

The Local will keep you updated and provide copies of all presentations made during the budget process.
