CUPE 500 recognizes Mental Health Week - May 2 – 8, 2022

Mental Health Week is an annual national event hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) that takes place during the first week of May.that takes place during the first week of May. Too often, stigma and discrimination surrounding this issue creates barriers for those seeking the support and care they need. 

Mental health and mental illness are a big part of health and safety in the workplace and beyond. CUPE members can access tools, resources and training to help members identify psychological hazards. Impact of the Pandemic - A Lived Experience Perspective with Aly Raposo

Storytelling and sharing tips became a normal role for Aly Raposo. She will share her story with you in order to start the conversation on such important topics. She would like you to embark on this journey with her. Aly will dive right into the "nitty gritty" of what life was like living as a person with mental illness, sharing some of her personal struggles, as well as some of the adversity that she faced. She will also share some of the accomplishments that she celebrated. She will try to dismantle and pull apart the "5 main pillars" of balancing healthy mental health. She will discuss the implications of losing your routine, your "mojo" and a sense of accomplishment based on the pandemic. Please join us to hear Aly’s personal story.

Having lived with mental illness for over 13 years, Aly is familiar with the struggles, the ups and downs, as well as the barriers associated with mental health. Aly has spoken at different events as a key note speaker, a facilitator, an educator in Canada to various age groups with different purposes.
