CUPE Local 500/City of Winnipeg - Bargaining Update #30

September 21, 2022 at 1:23 AM

Since our last update, the Local has received many emails and phone calls regarding picket duty registration and other strike related questions. Many of the answers to the questions you may have about strike related action, can be found here.

For all other inquiries, you can email the Local 500 office at union@cupe.mb.ca. We ask for your patience while we go through the many questions we’ve received.

Please note that there has been no strike date set as of yet. We are still in talks with the employer in hopes of reaching a fair settlement.

Right now, we don’t have an offer that we can present to you for acceptance. Your bargaining committee heard you loud and clear with a 93% strike vote, that a fair general wage increase is a priority. Once we have an offer we can recommend to you, there will be another vote.

In the meantime, we are continuing with our strike preparations. As you can imagine, with a membership our size, it is a huge undertaking. We thank you for your continued support, solidarity and participation.
