CUPE Local 500/City of Winnipeg - Bargaining Update #37 Strike is on pause – tentative agreement reached pending EPC approval

October 10, 2022 at 5:43 PM

Conciliation talks between CUPE 500 and the City of Winnipeg continued on Monday, October 10. As a result of these discussions, a tentative agreement has been reached, pending approval by the Executive Policy Committee (EPC) of Council.

This approval process by EPC is expected to happen over the next few days and therefore strike action is on pause.

“Both parties worked hard over the weekend with the help of the conciliator to get this deal done, and put a pause on strike action,” said CUPE 500 President Gord Delbridge. “Ultimately, it will be up to the membership to decide if the offer is acceptable.”

The Local's Negotiating Committee will not be releasing any details of the proposed settlement until our members have had an opportunity toreview the offer in its entirety and vote on it.

MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS AND VOTING

All CUPE Local 500 members working at the City of Winnipeg are eligible to attend the information meetings and vote on the tentative settlement. During the meetings, the Union's Negotiating Committee will explain the City's tentative settlement offer in its entirety and answer your questions.

Details of the date, time and location of the membership meetings and membership vote will be mailed to each member directly as soon as details are finalized.
