Local 500 mourns the loss of Honourary Life Member Tom Butterworth

Local 500 is sad to announce the passing of Honourary Life Member Tom Butterworth on November 26, 2020.
Tom commenced service with the City of Winnipeg in the Hydro Department in February 1959. In 1961 he transferred to the Assessment Department until 1975 at which time he was promoted out-of-scope.
During his years as a Local 500 member, Tom was a dedicated and influential union activist who served in a number of elected positions and on numerous committees. He was a member of the pension committee and was instrumental in the formation of the Employee Benefits Plan. He also served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Les Butterworth Scholarship and Bursary Program.
Tom was inducted into the Local 500 Honourary Life membership in 1989.
He will be missed and always remembered.
