Bargaining Update #5

Between CUPE 500 and the City of Winnipeg

On May 7th, CUPE met with the employer to have some preliminary sub-committee discussions.

There are no new bargaining dates as of yet, but we will inform the membership once talks resume.

We understand members are anxious to get a deal done as soon as possible. While the City’s change in Manager of Labour Relations (lead negotiator) slows the process down, your negotiating committee is committed to getting the membership a fair deal with zero concessions, as soon as possible. No job action can take place until an Essential Services Agreement is negotiated. That process is ongoing.

Rumours

The rumour mill will be hard at work during bargaining. Please don’t believe anything you hear unless it comes from the Union. If you have a serious concern about something you’ve heard, contact us at 204-942-1001 or send us an email: union@cupe500.mb.ca.

Your bargaining committee will keep you informed as progress is made. As a reminder, because of the sensitive nature of negotiations, the bargaining committee is not able to give you a step-by-step explanation of everything that is discussed during the bargaining process. However, should we reach a settlement or impasse, members will be fully informed.
