We all know how tough it is to shovel our driveways. Now imagine having to plow an entire city! That’s what our members do, and they do it well.

While a large percentage of Winnipeg’s snow removal has been contracted out, we know that the public employees who clear the streets can do it better, faster, and cost taxpayers less than the private companies. Oddly enough, this year’s operating budget didn’t comment on the need to bring residential snow clearing back fully public. This is yet another lost opportunity to save money, and increase efficiency.

Regardless, make sure you adhere to snow route parking bans. They may seem inconvenient at the time, but these bans help ensure that our roads are clear for emergency vehicles, businesses, and for citizens.
