WINNIPEG – Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Mike Davidson is the new President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 500.

Davidson who works for the City of Winnipeg in the Planning, Property and Development Department, previously served as Local 500 President from 2003 – 2005. He has been actively involved on the Local 500 and CUPE Manitoba executive and serves on the executive for the Winnipeg Labour Council.

“I am honored to have been elected to this position and look forward to working with the members of the largest CUPE Local in Manitoba,” said Davidson. “In the months ahead, our main focus will be contract negotiations and our fight for quality public services for all Winnipeggers,” Davidson said. "But one thing will remain constant – and that’s the strength and support of our membership who recognize that we are one in our fight for quality public services.”
