About the Les Butterworth Scholarship Fund

Awarded annually to CUPE Local 500 members and their families.

The Les Butterworth Scholarship program, sponsored by CUPE Local 500, helps union members and their families defray the cost of higher education.

The Scholarship fund was established in memory of Les Butterworth, a past education representative for CUPE. Les dedicated his life to making this a better world for working people.

Method of selection

A selection committee of three prominent Winnipeg citizens will review the applications and other information provided. They may conduct interviews to determine the award winners if they choose. The Board of Directors of the Les Butterworth Scholarship Fund Inc. has no choice in the selection of the winners and no member of the Selection Committee can be a member of CUPE Local 500. The decision of the Selection Committee is final.
