CUPE Local 500 > News/Media > News Archive > ACTION ALERT: University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) Information Picket – Friday, November 4

Please join with CUPE Local 500 President Gord Delbridge, students and affiliates on Friday, November 4 at the intersection of Chancellor Matheson and University Crescent at 11:30 AM for a march to the Administration building where an info picket will be held at noon.

“We are proud to stand in solidarity and offer our support to these workers who are fighting for fairness,” said CUPE Local 500 President, Gord Delbridge.

UMFA is the certified bargaining agent for approximately 1,245 full-time academics, including librarians, at the University of Manitoba.  They have been negotiating since May, raising concerns with the administration about increasing workloads, fair evaluation, and competitive salaries, with very little progress to date.

Local 500 members are also encouraged to show your support at the following picket lines:

Chancellor Matheson Rd @ Pembina Hwy
University Crescent North
University Crescent South
King’s Drive

On Bannatyne campus, the picket line is outside the Brodie Centre (727 McDermot Ave.)
