Today, Winnipeg City Council ratified the memorandum of agreement between CUPE Local 500 and the City of Winnipeg.

The term of the agreement is from December 28, 2014, through to December 24, 2016, with a 2% wage increase effective pay period 1, 2015 and a 2% wage increase effective pay period 1, 2016. 

When can I expect to see my retroactive pay on my pay advice?

The City has not yet provided the Union with a schedule for implementation of retroactive pay. Once we are advised of the processing dates, we will communicate this information to the membership.

I am a past employee and my employment with the City terminated after Dec. 27, 2014 - do I receive retroactive pay? 

Any retroactive wage increase is not payable to any employee who was dismissed for cause or voluntarily left the employ of the City between December 27, 2014 and the date of the Memorandum of Agreement.  

When will the new collective agreement be available? 

Now that the memorandum of agreement has been approved, we will begin the process of incorporating the changes into the new agreement. As per Clause 17 of the Local 500 By-laws, distribution of the collective agreement will be as follows:

  1. Members will have viewing access to the Local 500 Collective Agreement on the Local's webpage, with the exception of the wage scales.

  2. Members can request that the Collective Agreement be sent to them electronically in PDF format via email.

  3. Members can come to the Local 500 office and pick up a hard copy of the Collective Agreement.

  4. Members can call the Local 500 office and request the Local mail out a hard copy of the agreement.*Salary schedules are available upon request. 

Where can I get a copy of the Offer of Settlement?

Copies of the offer of settlement are available from the Local 500 office. Please call us at 204-942-1001 for a copy.
