CUPE Local 500 > News/Media > News Archive > Clerical Survey – City Wide Seniority for Promotion

If you are a Clerk A, Clerk B, Clerk C, Senior Clerk or Principal Clerk working at the City of Winnipeg, you will soon be receiving a survey from CUPE Local 500 in your home mailbox.

What’s the survey about?  Survey-Clerical_web.jpg

During the last round of bargaining between CUPE Local 500 and the City of Winnipeg, a Letter of Understanding was agreed to that asks the parties to discuss the implementation of city wide seniority for promotion to Clerk B, Clerk C, Senior Clerk and Principal Clerk, all Trade positions, and any other classifications agreed to by the parties.

As such, from April 6 to April 20, 2016, CUPE Local 500 will be conducting a survey with our members working in Clerk A, Clerk B, Clerk C, Senior Clerk and Principal Clerk positions to gather your views about moving towards a city wide seniority promotional system.

Is the survey available on-line?

No, we are sending you a paper survey to ensure we are able to reach all clerical employees who work in the classifications covered under the Letter of Understanding.

Where can I find out more information about the current promotional process and the proposed new promotional system?

A frequently asked questions document is included with the survey that will help explain the proposed city wide promotional system from what currently exists in the collective agreement.

How do I return the survey?

You can return the survey in the self-addressed, stamped envelope that is included in the mailing.  You can also fax it or scan and email it to the Local 500 office if you so wish.  Our fax number is 204-956-1439 or by email to: union@cupe500.mb.ca.

What is the deadline to return the survey?

We would like to receive your completed survey by Wednesday, April 20, 2016,   so that we can begin the analysis of your responses, and report our findings back to you.

What if I’m a clerical employee and didn’t receive a survey?

If you have not received a survey in the mail by April 6, please contact the Local 500 office at 204-942-1001 or by email at union@cupe500.mb.ca.

Your input is important to your union and we look forward to your participation in this important survey!

Thank you!
