As you are aware, the new agreement was finalized on April 30 when CUPE received the decision provided by the Arbitrator. In accordance with your collective agreement, retroactive pay shall be made payable within one hundred and twenty (120) days (August 28) of ratification of this collective agreement (or in this case, from the date of the Arbitrator's ruling).
We have been advised by the employer that retroactive pay will be implemented on August 28 and the new wage rates will be reflected on September 17.
For your information, the agreed to general salary increases negotiated are:
2.5% effective April 1, 2014
2.5% effective April 1, 2015
2.0% effective April 1, 2016
There is also an additional 2% long service increment effective October 1, 2014, for all employees once they reach over 20 years of service and are at the top of their pay scale.
