Every year on May 1st, we celebrate International Workers' Day, also known as May Day. It's a time to pay tribute to the historic struggles of working people throughout the world.
This year on May 1st, please join with other workers for the May Day March which will begin with a gathering at city hall (510 Main Street) at 5:30 pm to hear a few speakers followed by the March beginning at 6:00 pm. The March is organized by the Winnipeg Labour Council.
The theme for this year's May Day is Stop the Cutsin light of the deep cuts taking place to government spending. People are entitled to health care, education, livelihood and housing. The march route will end at Old Market Square. Recognition will be given to the two fallen strikers during the Winnipeg 1919 Winnipeg General Strike at Bannatyne and Main on Bloody Saturday, June 21, 1919.
Please be sure to attend this very important event in show of solidarity needed in these times of struggles, cuts and hardship.
