The Collective Agreement between CUPE Local 500 and the City of Winnipeg expired on December 24, 2016. The members of your Negotiating Committee are in full preparation mode for bargaining. On January 13 and 14, the Union's negotiating committee will be meeting to review our bargaining proposals that were submitted by staff and by Local 500 members through the bargaining survey.
The Local would like to thank all our members who took the time to complete the survey. Knowing what you want is critical to negotiating improvements to our collective agreement.
When will bargaining begin?
Once we have put together our proposal package, the next step will be to exchange proposals with the employer. We have already given the employer notice of intent to commence negotiations. This notice period is outlined in the current Collective Agreement.
At this time, we ask that you watch for updates as more information becomes available. Please don't listen to rumours and keep informed by reading the communications sent out by the Local 500 office. If you have a serious concern about something you've heard, contact us at 204-942-1001 or send us an email to union@cupe500.mb.ca
How to stay informed
The best way to stay informed during bargaining is to sign-up for email updates by providing us with your home email address.
If you don't have access to a computer, bargaining updates will also be posted on your workplace bulletin boards.
