Negotiations toward a new collective agreement continued on February 17 and 18 between Local 500 and the City of Winnipeg.
The two parties were able to have some very detailed discussions regarding a number of proposals. While we did not reach agreement on these items, both sides came away with a better understanding of each other's concerns.
Our next bargaining dates have been scheduled for February 24 and 25.
Sub-Committees
In addition to bargaining in the full committee, sub-committees are being formed to meet separately to deal with specific issues. Normally, two or three representatives from both the Union and the City's bargaining committees are assigned to sub-committees, with other members being brought in as needed.
Presidents, Members and Staff Assigned to Bargaining
The president of the Local, the unit presidents, two members at large and staff are assigned to contract negotiations with the City. During bargaining, if you have a concern or need information, please see your shop steward or a unit officer. If you're not sure who they are, call the Local 500 office at 204-942-1001 and they will help you reach a union representative.
Watch for More Information
From now and until we reach a settlement, we'll continue to send out bargaining updates. Please check your bulletin boards or visit our website at cupe500.mb.ca.
