Local 500’s bargaining team met with the City on February 2nd to kick-off negotiations for a new contract.
The opening day consisted of introductions of the two teams and opening statements. The parties also spent some time reviewing and discussing the proposals to ensure both sides had a mutual understanding of what they mean and why we are requesting them.
We are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, February 3rd to continue discussions. Our members’ priorities will remain front and center during this round of contract negotiations.
At this time, we do ask that you understand and respect the importance of not releasing specific details being addressed in these negotiations.
Rumours
The rumour mill will be hard at work during bargaining. Please don’t believe anything you hear, unless it comes from the Union. If you have questions or concerns, contact the Local 500 office directly at 204-942-1001. Ignore the rumours and get the facts.
