CUPE Local 500 > News/Media > News Archive > Local 500/City of Winnipeg Negotiations Update

Bargaining is continuing between Local 500 and the City of Winnipeg. The two parties are scheduled to meet again in full committee on March 11 and 12.

Sub-Committees Met

On February 24 and 25, sub-committees met to discuss and share information regarding specific articles and proposals. On March 3, the Local 500 bargaining team met to evaluate and prepare their response to the information presented at these meetings.

Just a reminder, that because of the sensitive nature of negotiations, the bargaining committee is not able to give a step-by-step explanation of everything that is discussed in sub-committee meetings or at the bargaining table. However, should the negotiating committee achieve a settlement or run into an impasse, the members will be fully informed.

Members Identify Important Issues and Priorities

Your bargaining committee will keep you informed as progress is made. We will continue to focus on the priorities you identified in the bargaining survey. The top priorities in this round of negotiations are:

  • Reasonable Wage Increase
  • Job Security
  • Protecting Pensions
  • Fighting off Concessions

Our goal remains to secure a fair and reasonable collective agreement.
