Mayworks kicked-off it's Festival of Labour and the Arts on Friday, April 30 with the opening of the "In Their Footsteps" photo exhibit at the Millennium Library. This exhibit of historical pictures depicts the struggles of women at the turn of the century to more recent times. The photos feature some of our more prominent leaders in their struggle for justice and dignity for women.

CUPE Local 500 and CUPE Manitoba co-sponsored the exhibit.

"Today, we enjoy the opening of an exhibit that will provide us with a unique opportunity to highlight and increase our awareness of the contribution both past and present, that women have made to Canadian society," said Local 500 President Mike Davidson. "It also provides us with the opportunity to reflect on how far women have come in their struggle for equality, peace and development."

The exhibit will be open for viewing during library hours for the entire month on May. For more information, visit the Mayworks website at http://mayworks.org/ or contact the Workers Organizing Resource Centre at 947-2220.
