National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week – April 11-17, 2021
April 12, 2021 at 3:38 PM
Each year, the second full week of April is dedicated to those who work day and night as public safety telecommunicators in our 911 Emergency call centres.
"Local 500 members who work as City of Winnipeg emergency communication operators, are essential to public safety," said Local 500 President, Gord Delbridge. "I'm pleased to see that their contributions and commitment to public safety are being recognized and I commend our members for their dedicated efforts day in and day out."
The City of Winnipeg has two emergency communications call centres. One centre is used by the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service (WFPS), and the other is used by Winnipeg Police Service (WPS). CUPE 500 represents members working at the WFPS call centre.
We thank them all for their commitment to our community.
