Rally in support of Canadian postal workers

More than 500 supporters turned out for a rally in dowtown Winnipeg on Friday,June 10 in support of striking CUPW members.

CUPE members attending the Western Municipal Conference joined with union activists from the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Manitoba Federation of Labour in support of striking Canada Post workers.

Speaking to the crowd of supporters, Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) 1st National Vice-President Gayle Bossenberry outlined the importance of their job action to maintain good, community supporting jobs across Canada and to maintain a strong public sector. CUPE National President Paul Moist underlined her comments.

"This week, there are no CUPE members, we are all PSAC members. The labour movement will stand together to move workers forward in the important battle,” said Moist.

Also Speaking at the rally were PSAC National President, John Gordon, MFL President Kevin Rebeck, Winnipeg Labour Council President Dave Sauer and Winnipeg CUPW Local President Bob Tyre.
